ZHIWA Fashion Presentation
Two years in the making, Stolen presents the new collection ZHIWA, based on designer Elyn Wong’s own personal experience and journey to Bhutan, and an introspective rendition of its silence. The classically minimalistic style of Stolen welcomes a new language, inspired by the harshness, richness and devotion of Bhutan.
Debuting in an eponymous fashion presentation, ZHIWA was an intense engagement of garment and the senses. With a palette of browns representing the Bhutanese landscape accented with bright blues and greens from nature, and reds that describe the vibrancy of the culture and devotion of the people.
Quietly.
That was how I experienced Bhutan.
The sound of prayer wheels turning.
The wind.
Chanting.
Leaves rustling in the wind.
The wind.
Wind chimes.
The wind.
When one sense was muted, the rest were heightened.
The silence in Bhutan made me see more, it made me feel more.
The silence was liberating, and I was liberated.
